The Kandinsky Project
The Kandinsky Project (working title) is a multimedia group work that actualizes the creation of one of Kandinsky’s great works through movement, projection, lighting and sound design. By plumbing the layers of his faceted and complex art, we hope to look at the journey of the creative process, how each choice we make is a stepping-stone towards meaning, expression, and a larger visual story. The movement will take cues from his stark and defiant spatial choices, and the tone and texture of the vocabulary drawing inspiration from his deep and rich use of color. The final work, approximately 20 minutes, will be an explosive, connotative and visceral experience for the viewer, where his art is manifested with accumulating momentum. This is being created as a children’s dance theatre experience for 92Y.
